Stunning Penny Lane (Lipps LA) for
PARALLEL MAGAZINE / The Gypsy Heart from UK.
Can you tell us a bit about you?
Well where to start… I’m a English girl with a gypsy heart. I have been moving around since I was a little girl with my family. So you could say, I got the bug from an early age. I spent most of my teen year in a country village in the North west of the Country. By the time I was 16 years old I got that feeling of wanting to explore. Fortunately for me I was scouted at an early age with a modeling agency. I was scared out of my mind, but there was no way I was going to ignore that feeling. So I moved to London! And ever since I have lived and traveled through my work and, passion as a model. Wherever the wind ( opportunity )presents itself I would go without much hesitation. I have Lived in Italy, Istanbul, Australia, New York, and now here in LA as of a few days ago (and Still jet lagged!)
How would you describe yourself?
I am a romantic, and not in the princess saved by the prince kind of way. I like to see the world in a romantic point of view. Romance has ups, and downs but, you always route for the positives and not the negatives in romance. Im a person thats thirsty for knowledge about the world, and everything in and around it. So love to have friends that share the same curiosity about it and love a DMC( deep & meaningful conversation)
What other career could we imagine for you?
I have always loved acting since I can remember. However I never went a school that was drama focused. So I never thought it was a possibility for me. I think that Is why I found some sort of pull towards modeling. It was a way to portray a character and preform a creative outlet. Then I was given an opportunity to audition for the role of Lex Luther’s body guard in the new DC film. I got it! I couldn’t believe it…we trained for months in the Warner brothers studio. Weapons training and, cross fit everyday without fail. We filmed in Monaco on a super evil genius yacht-it was crazy. When it was over I was overwhelmed with how incredible that experience was, and I knew its where my heart is.
What Music means to you?
Music means a lot to me. If I could live a musical I would! That’s the thing about music it’s so powerful. It can describe emotions you’ve not admitted to yourself or not been able to put into words. It can lift you onto cloud nine and, it can just as easily take you back to your lowest points. It can be attached to fantastic nostalgic memories- ABBA always takes me back to dancing and, singing along with my mum in the car. Instantly puts a five mile smile on my face! Or ‘my sweet lord’ by George Harrison brings my thoughts to my dad. It’s a huge part of my life.
Favorite project you worked on?
I have been fortunate enough to work with Armani on 6 campaigns. These projects would be some of my favourite memories I’ll cherish forever. They whisk you away to incredible destinations from Sardinia, to the Alps in a lodge where Leonardo Divinnci would relax and escape from the world. Not only did we travel to incredible places but, the team grew so close. This is where my love for Italy grew. I discovered how the Italians view the world ( romantic) I think this is why I feel so comfortable there. Dolce and Gabbana is another brand I Love to work with. Domenico Dolce said to me “the word ‘Love’ is thrown around too loosely, but when an Italian says ‘Amore’ it’s something so real and meaningful that’s not taken lightly.”
Your worst nightmare? Most beautiful dream?
Worst nightmare would have to be my reoccurring dream as a little girl. It was like jack and the bean stalk. Except I was Jack, and I had a psychotic giant trying to squash me. I would always make it to the side table and he would go to grab me and I would wake up.
The most beautiful dream I had was in a setting similar to Alice in wonderland. Every time I turned a corner I would meet different character in another beautiful setting. I associated each character with people in my life at the time. It felt magical, and meaningful at every meeting. It was like my conscious was telling me who have been there for me through my path. It was bizarre but, beautiful.
Incoming news?
I don’t know what I’m doing next week let alone what the future lies. All I can say is watch this space !
…What were you doing Saturday night?
Saturday night I was invited out to a disco. Literally so much fun! It was a night full of ridiculous dance moves, and laughs till the early hours of the morning.
What do you have in your pockets right now?
For once I have nothing in my pockets right now. However they are new trousers! My bag is has everything a girl could need on a busy day : Charger, tangle tweezer, RX bar, IPad, bose wireless earphones, bobble (hair tie) Garrett light sunnies, and the most important thing; water !
